Romo injured his back on the third play from scrimmage in Seattle when he was sacked by Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril. Romo was in the process of sliding when he was hit from behind by the defensive end. The tackle bent Romo in half, with his torso going toward his legs. After his body snapped back in recoil, Romo reached for his lower back and was taken out of the game.

Romo serious injuries |
He was checked on by trainers on the sideline and was able to twist and throw without any apparent discomfort. He wanted to re-enter the game, but Cowboys coach Jason Garrett kept him out as a precaution. Both Garrett and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Romo's injury was not serious.
Multiple injuries occurred in Thursday's other game in Orlando between the Falcons and Dolphins. Most of them affected Atlanta, the most significant being an ankle injury to Pro Bowl receiver Julio Jones in the 17-6 Dolphins victory.
Falcons rookie safety Keanu Neal, Atlanta's first-round pick from Florida, was in on five stops before exiting late in the first quarter with a knee injury. He tried to corral Dolphins running back Arian Foster in the flat, but twisted his knee awkwardly on the turf at Orlando's Camping World Stadium. He was listed questionable to return, but ruled out after halftime.
Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn injured his shoulder in the second quarter. He was taken to the locker room for X-rays and did not return.
Also injured for the Falcons were second-year receiver Justin Hardy (ankle) and running back Brandon Wilds (knee).
Impact rookies
Neal was having a great game before exiting with his knee injury. He had five tackles in the first quarter before injuring his right knee. He was evaluated on the sideline, but was able to walk to the locker room without any assistance.
After Romo went down, Dak Prescott went in and was again fantastic. Prescott led a scoring drive on his second series, connecting with tight end Jason Witten for a 17-yard touchdown pass to give the Cowboys an early 7-0 lead. Prescott, a fourth-round pick from Mississippi State, finished Thursday's 27-17 loss 17 of 23 for 116 yards and a touchdown.
