Randy Travis' naked DWI
Oke News-A state appeals court ruled Thursday that video footage of country singer Randy Travis being arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in 2012 must be made public.Travis, 57, was arrested shortly before midnight on Aug. 7, 2012, after a one-vehicle crash just outside Tioga, about 60 miles north of Dallas.

State troopers were called to the scene by a witness who reported the accident and a man lying naked in the street.Marty Cirkiel, an attorney for Travis, told the Austin American-Statesman that he would be appealing the court's decision about the video.

After the arrest, requests were made for dash-cam footage of the incident. Greg Abbott, then attorney general, said the video should be made public — but redacted to exclude images of Travis' naked body below the waist.

Travis had argued that the video should be kept private because the recording was made while he "was exhausted, intoxicated, sleep-deprived, medicated, and suffering from a post-collision concussion" and therefore his actions were unknowing and involuntary.

In February of that year, he was charged with public intoxication while sitting in his car at a church parking lot in Sanger. He later apologized to his fans "for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl" and eventually pleaded no contest to a lesser charge.

Earlier on the night of his DWI arrest, Travis — already naked — walked into a convenience store in Pilot Point in an attempt to buy cigarettes.
Later that August, he was accused of assaulting the estranged husband of a woman he was dating, in the parking lot of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.
Several days later, Travis' truck was found abandoned on its side in a field in Frisco, but his attorney said he wasn't driving it.
In 2013, Travis suffered a stroke and had brain surgery. Since then, he has been unable to sing or speak and has difficulty walking.
